This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Florida has just released the newest Sunshine State Reader Award Books for the 2023-2024.This project was a huge success last year! My students loved copies of each of the Sunshine State book. They devoured the wide variety of books and then voted at the end of the school year for their favorite book!

Each year, Florida provides a list of 15 novels for grades 3-5 that students can read, and then vote for their favorite book for a state award, and my students need these updated books; and I've already read some of these books and they great reads!

Our school librarian has a system set up for students to read these incredible books. When students read, they earn brag tags. It's something they take pride in not for the tags, but because my students love to read these books and are proud that they read a diverse books.

Having a set of books would allow my students to be able to read each book whenever they want and not have to stress about being put on a wait list in our school library. This was a huge advantage this year! The kids and myself were so grateful and would be forever grateful for the newest set!
