My Students

My students attend an advanced studies academy. The academic expectations are rigorous, and my students rise to those expectations, both at the middle school and high school level. My students are inquisitive, excited to learn, and full of general enthusiasm.

My students are always willing to share personal stories to help bring the curriculum to life.

I am lucky to teach a somewhat diverse group of students. We get to apply real-world experience and knowledge to our social studies lessons at both the middle school and high school level. It is always interesting to have students explain personal experiences when we discuss ancient civilizations, European history, and the advent of major world religions.

My Project

In my class, we do a variety of activities. The students are encouraged to sit on the floor when we work in small groups, allowing the kids to work in a tighter space. Additionally, the students are encouraged to sit at the front on the room, on the floor, during our notes portion of lessons in order to help students see the board more clearly, to help students stay engaged, and to create a feeling of community during the learning process.

Using floor pillows as alternative seating helps to keep the students engaged and excited in the lesson.The floor pillows will help to provide support and comfort for the students sitting on the floor.

It will allow the students to have a barrier in between them and the hard tile. The floor pillows will help the students get excited about the lesson. The bright colors and the different seating will help to engage students whether it is 8 am or 2 pm.
