Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many hardworking and dedicated students walk into my classroom every day, and I always want them to walk out with a feeling of success.

Our sixth-grade is comprised of amazing students; many of whom come from bilingual households and receive free or reduced price lunch.

Inducing a sense of knowledge and enjoyment to their classroom experience is very important in each and every introduced lesson.

I look forward to a wonderful school year and a classroom full of learning!

My Project

Every student that walks into my classroom each day wants to learn. It's the teacher's job to provide an engaging and creative lesson for success not only for today's lesson but also towards the future. That's why I want to introduce Flocabulary into my classroom.

Flocabulary is proven to raise scores on state reading tests.

By integrating Flocabulary into lessons throughout the school day, the videos help to increase critical thinking skills. Students will view various videos that are Common Core aligned, and each child will complete an online quiz to assess their knowledge on the subject. Students will use the vocabulary they learned to increase their writing skills. Students will also use the Kagan strategy, quiz-quiz-trade, during the course of the school year from all the newly learned vocabulary.

I also have chosen a wonderful book, Esperanza Rising, that will be beneficial for many Spanish speaking students. A young adult novel, written by Pam Muñoz Ryan, will give all readers a roll model named Esperanza Ortega. It was written in 2000 but it's sure to be a classic.
