Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At our school in South Jamaica, Queens, we are committed to providing our students with enriching and diverse learning experiences that foster both physical and mental growth. Our students are full of energy, curiosity, and the drive to push their boundaries. However, many lack the resources needed to safely explore new physical challenges like gymnastics.

The mats we are requesting will make an incredible difference in our ability to introduce gymnastics to our students in a safe and supportive environment.

With these mats, we can teach essential gymnastics skills while minimizing the risk of injury, allowing students to gain confidence in themselves and their abilities. These mats will also provide opportunities for students to improve their balance, coordination, and strength—skills that translate into better overall health and increased focus in the classroom.

Our goal with this project is to create a space where every student feels safe to explore their potential and engage in physical activity in ways they may not have had the opportunity to before. Gymnastics will teach them resilience, discipline, and teamwork, all while having fun and being active.

What makes our students special is their resilience and determination. Many of them face challenges outside of school, but when they walk through our doors, they are eager to learn and grow. They deserve the best resources to support their education and well-being, and these mats will help us offer them a high-quality physical education experience that enriches both body and mind.
