Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Have you ever walked through a doorway and completely forgotten what you were just thinking? I'm trying to prevent the thinking gap when the students leave the school. By making lessons accessible at home, students can revisit lessons at their convenience, without fear of brain draining doorways.
The majority of students at my school are English language learners who come from a very socio-economically challenged area.
Some have adjusted well to speaking, reading and writing English. Others, including some who have barely been in US schools for a year, are still struggling. They are all very grateful for any extra help they can get with making the adjustment. We strive to instill a great love of education in our children with the hope that all of them will attend a technical school, 2 year or 4 college, or join the military. The first step is to help them learn to read and write well in English.
My Project
I am requesting a video editing laptop, a camcorder, a large memory card and a case to store it all in. Students will utilize the camera to record lessons to be edited on the laptop. Lessons will later be posted where they can be accessed 24/7 by all students.
Flipped classrooms are a research based, revolutionary approach to teaching using technology to increase success rates of student learning.
In order to build a flipped classroom where the learning takes place at home and the practice is supported in class, students will create and edit videos of the lessons.
By utilizing technology and a myriad of technological skills, the students become engaged on a high level and make the content accessible for everyone.
When the content is available 24/7, the students have the ability to constantly revisit lessons 24/7. Students will have greater flexibility in their learning. Lessons can be played, paused, and rewound at the learners' convenience.
In addition to increased learning in language arts, they will be practicing their math and technology skills.
