I am a Speech Language Pathologist in Flint, MI for ECDD-6th grade students. I work with 65 (and counting) special education students with a wide range of disabilities (e.g. Autism, cognitive impairment, emotional impairment, developmental delays, etc.) and environmental barriers including: exposure to lead, extreme poverty, trauma (i.e. mental/emotional, physical, sexual), etc. My students are incredibly resilient and inspiring. Despite what life may throw at them, they show up to school ready to make the most of a new day.
My goal and duty is to keep my kids engaged and excited to learn, and feel safe, accepted, and cared for when they are within the walls of our school.
These students goals target the habilitation of a wide variety of speech, language, and pragmatic skills that contribute directly to their ability to succeed within the general education setting, social settings, and most importantly every day life- fostering independence. They enjoy having a place within the school that they can take much needed sensory breaks, feel comfortable learning at their necessary pace, and engage with peers in a tight-knit atmosphere. Please consider helping me provide them with the best services possible to aide in the makings of their bright futures!
My project will allow me to provide an excess of hands on materials to engage a diverse group of students in enhancing their cognitive, speech, and language goals in 2 separate buildings.
This project will provide academic enhancement as well as the ability to provide kiddos with sensory processing difficulties an area to relax, regulate, and learn at a pace that is appropriate for their needs.
Please help me provide these amazing and resilient kids with an abundant of resources to support the betterment of their cognitive and communication skills.
