My Project

The students in my class are bright scholars who are eager to learn and try their personal best every day. They are a very diverse group of students who encourage, inspire, and celebrate each other daily. Our school is a place where my students feel a sense of security and consistency. In this safe learning environment, they can take learning risks to successfully achieve their academic goals. The students not only set academic goals, but they also learn how to be safe, responsible, and respectful citizens of the classroom and school community.

My students need to be able to have flexible seating arrangements throughout the day in order to feel safe and calm.

The lap desks will allow the students to work on financial literacy and STEAM activities in an area that is most comfortable for them. The lap desks have storage compartments so we can store our coins and dollar bills when we work on money. We are able to switch out the materials during the day to use them during science lessons. The compartments will allow us to individualize and differentiate the STEAM materials based on the students' needs and abilities. With the lap desks, students will be able to control the amount of stimulation they would like to receive and build confidence while learning about financial literacy or STEAM. I want to provide a comfortable casual seating area for students to relax, refocus, and refuel in order to return to their regular classroom routines. The flexible seating is vital in transpiring our classroom and provides an uncluttered and comfortable environment for our students.
