This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What I love about my students is their imagination and curiosity. They love sharing their ideas and love to contribute to classroom conversations.

My students are thoughtful, dedicated, and persevere even in challenging situations!

They are truly admirable. I know that as teachers we go in to teach them but my students have taught me so many invaluable lessons!

My Project

In my classroom student choice and agency is very important. When my kids are able to choose how they want to present an activity or who they get to work with they are more engaged. Students also feel empowered when they get to have choice over certain things. To that point, why not also provide choice of their classroom environment?

Flexible seating will allow my students to choose where they work and with who.

It also allows them to change their location and positions as needed. Flexible seating encourages students to find their best spot where they can actively learn, stay engaged, and calm.

The products that I have chosen will help my students by providing them with additional seating options to make more effective and productive learning choices. The balance ball seat and stools will allow students to sit at desk/higher tables but will still allow for some movement. These will be super beneficial for the students that just need to get the wiggles and jiggles out. The comfy floor seats allow for additional comfortable floor seating options. They are lightweight and students can easily pick them up if they need to change their location in the classroom. The student lap desks will be useful when students work in partnerships on the carpet area.

I have witnessed how giving my students choice in their activities has helped them become more engaged in their learning and I know that giving them choice over their seating will only further promote learning and engagement in the classroom!
