Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These specific items will make a difference in student learning because incorporating flexible seating options in the classroom helps create a more adaptable, student-centered learning environment that caters to diverse needs. By allowing students to take control of their surroundings, flexible seating encourages a more engaged, comfortable, and productive learning experience, ultimately leading to better academic outcomes. The stools will offer seating for my students during small group instruction at our kidney table.

Every student has unique learning preferences, and flexible seating can help meet those diverse needs.

Offering a variety of seating options caters to different learning styles, helping students engage more effectively. For students who need to move around to focus, flexible seating offers the freedom to stand, fidget, or shift positions.

Movement can improve concentration and cognitive functioning, making students more attentive and ready to learn. Flexible seating allows students to choose seating arrangements that can make them feel more comfortable and supports lover periods of productive work. It also encourages active learning so students can engage with content in dynamic ways, collaborate with peers, and have more control over their learning environment.

Since students will have the opportunity to choose their seating arrangement, this encourages them to take ownership of their learning environment. Lastly, flexible seating can create a more positive, inviting atmosphere where students feel valued and empowered when they have input into how the classroom is set up.
