My Students

My students are eager to learn, curious, and active! We are a neighborhood school, which many of my students have attended since Pre-K. Our parents and community are actively involved. However, many of my students face learning challenges and seek alternative ways to engage in instruction. Over 40% of my class is economically disadvantaged. It is my goal to provide my students with an environment that is comfortable, safe, and provides each student with the opportunity to reach their academic potential.

My Project

During reading and station work, my students look forward to getting out of their seats and relaxing with a good book in a cozy space. Currently, our classroom only offers two bean bag chairs as alternative seating options. With additional flexible seating added to our classroom, more students would be able to enjoy more relaxing options and an opportunity to get of their desk chairs. My students work very hard on tasks that can be lengthy-after a while, desk chairs grow uncomfortable. With flexible seating, each student would have an opportunity to regain their focus in an area that enables a comfortable work environment.
