Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are confronted with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Every day, these first graders come to school with big smiles and ready to learn regardless of what happens outside. Upon entering our school, we always try to instill a love for learning. I try to find various ways to keep them engaged and ensure that they learn to their full potential. My greatest reward is seeing them grow into sagacious, independent, kind, and respectful people.

My Project

Flexible seating will provide our students with a variety of seating options in the classroom. Each year there is an increase in the number of students who need other forms of seating rather than a regular classroom chair. I have designated different areas of the classroom to allow for multiple learning opportunities for students who have difficulty staying seated and focused. Flexible seating stools, desk bands, and pillows will allow students a comfortable seating option to ensure they stay engaged throughout the lesson whether its during whole group or small group instruction. Flexible seating arrangements in the classroom will provide more opportunities for all learners!
