This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are children who come from low income families who all have a deep desire to learn and be successful. They love hands-on activities and embrace challenges. They come in each day ready to learn despite the challenges they face outside of school. I work in a self-contained classroom with students who have various types of learning disabilities. However, this has not hindered their desire to learn and be successful. They are all great students and bring a great energy into the classroom which makes it a pleasure to have them every day.

My Project

My classroom focus is Math. The item I have requested for is a horseshoe activity table. It is designed to help with flexible grouping in the classroom so that students who need my support or aid can come sit with me. By having the horseshoe table, I will be able to help multiple students at one time so that each student can feel successful by the time they leave the classroom. In addition, because the top of the table is laminated, students will benefit from being able to use Expo markers to write out and solve various math problems on it.
