Providing a variety of flexible seating options for our students will encourage them to take ownership of their learning. They will be able to choose a seating option and a place in the room where they are able to stay focused. Flexible seating options in the classroom have shown to increase student engagement and their overall health. These seating options will allow our students to continue to move their bodies while remaining on task and staying attentive.
Being provided with choice and the ability to move around the classroom will foster communication and collaboration with a variety of peers.
When students are given choice, they are actively engaged in their learning. Students will be encouraged to choose seating options that can change daily to keep them moving and focused. These seating options will help us increase their overall health and well-being while strengthening their academics.
This project will help three third grade classrooms and many students for years to come. We will be providing our students with flexible seating options while also teaching them the benefits that they give. Students love having things in our classroom that they can enjoy and they understand the value in things that they are given. They quickly take accountability and ownership which allows them to be respectful of the materials and resources that they have. I know our students will love having a variety of seating options that they can use and thrive from.
