My students are great examples to me and others in the school. They work hard and have learned that doing your best and trying is what makes them successful. I have seen them grow and become more aware of their learning and that making mistakes helps them in gaining knowledge.
Having goals and reaching those goals have become instrumental in my student's success, and many have reached personal goals because they feel invested in them.
One example of this is the weekly goals each of my students has. I have seen them struggle, ask questions, and gain understanding, then seen their excitement when they realize they have reached the goal that was set.
My Project
Working with second graders and many who struggle to stay seated and still, the chairs and cushions would help them in maintaining focus and allow them to be successful in their work. There are several students in the class that would really benefit from having an option that allows them to move while they are seated.
Allowing students to move their bodies and stay safe, while they work, would help students in staying focused and on task, which in turn will help them gain confidence in their work and contributions in the classroom.
Giving students choices and accessibility to different options for their learning is key in learning. These chairs would allow me to give them those choices and are a stepping stone in giving them what they need.
