My Project

Teaching 1st grade has been an incredible experience. I have observed that having flexible seating options in the classroom is crucial for student engagement and autonomy. I’m looking to expand flexible seating to meet the sensory needs of all students. Floor cushions will be offered in addition to our rug, chairs, and standing for our whole-class instruction. They will also be options for small group work. Wiggle seats and bands provide sensory input for students and help students focus on their work.

Through hands-on activities, students have made numerous projects and have expressed a genuine love of creating and using their imagination.

This love of creating is also apparent during the use of our morning STEM bins. Manipulatives and craft materials are essential for these activities.
