This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are part of a high poverty/low income district. They come from a variety of backgrounds and have their unique learning challenges. But they are all eager to learn. All sixth grade students at our site students come through my classroom for Science. They are inspired to dig deeper when offered real life learning experiences. They are working on the collaboration skills necessary to be innovators and problems solvers. They thrive with hands on learning phenomena. Please help me to enrich their experiences.
My Project
Help me begin to give my students a flexible seating classroom by providing an adjustable height wobble stool.
My students are dreamers, innovators, collaborators and problem solvers.
They are inspirations to themselves and others around them, even if they don't know it yet. They are the ambassadors, world travelers, scientists, entrepreneurs, teachers of today and tomorrow. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their long successful career.
In ensuring such success, the school focuses on four core values that we instill in our students all year: problem solving, ownership, responsibility, respect; my classroom adds two others: excellence and service.
Our school is being rebranded as the innovation and exploration academy. To meet these new expectations will need flexible seating that allows them to collaborate, explore and innovate. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their potential and growth while they are with me. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire these pre-teen learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
Flexible seating has become more popular as more research is being done and as more classrooms make the shift into less traditional seating. It gives students a chance to CHOOSE how they want to learn for the day.
Flexible seating leads to students being COMFORTABLE.
A comfortable student is calm, focused, and productive. It also makes good use of small spaces. I have a small classroom, and being able to offer flexible seating will open up the space and allow my students to learn and work collaboratively.
My class and I would be forever grateful to incorporate flexible seating into our learning.
