My Students

I am a teacher in a Title I school; my students are faced with several challenges both in school and at home. They each come from a unique family, economic, and cultural backgrounds. But together they make a group of awesome kiddos eager to learn and grow, not only academically but holistically.

My class is comprised of young and eager first graders in Saint Petersburg, FL.

Though many may not have a model childhood, each minute they are in the classroom, we strive to build a positive classroom community that extends to learning opportunities. I love the ability as a teacher to watch them grow not only in their learning, but as individuals throughout the year.

My Project

This flexible seating option will allow my students to take ownership of their learning and help make choice that works best for them! During independent work there are many times they are able to choose a spot around the room that is maybe more comfortable, whether it be laying on the carpet with a clipboard, sitting at a different seat at the back table, at their desk, or now having the opportunity to sit in the Comfy Floor Seat. Comfort is key to a safe and inviting classroom and I strive to help my students feel comfortable when they are practicing their learning.

Giving students a choice helps them take control of their own learning.

These choices should not just be when it comes to their academics, but with available seating as well. These Comfy Floor Seats I selected are lightweight and easy to move around areas of the classroom. They will provide an additional seating choice for my students. I am asking you to support me in providing more seating choices for my student so they can expand and diversify their learning experience.
