My Students

We are an incredibly diverse, urban school where families struggle to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. Our classroom is comprised of 30 students in the Seventh and Eighth grade who come from more than 17 countries with more than 10 different first languages spoken, and 78% of our students are entitled to free lunches. Additionally, all of my students have special needs. Despite all these challenges, my students still show up with a smile each day.

My Project

Many of my students have ADHD or Autism, which makes it difficult for them to sit and pay attention in class. They benefit from being able to move around while working and these special seating options, balance ball chair and stack stools, will provide that movement, without distracting their classmates.

I feel that students appreciate when their needs are recognized.

My students will see that they don't have to sit still in class. They will also be able to focus their energy on the small movement these chairs provide, while being able to focus more on their academics. While this isn't the typical seating we expect to see in a classroom, it is the best way to accommodate the unique needs of these kids.
