I have a full inclusion preschool classroom in one of the most diverse parts of the state. My students are from all over the world (Japan, Nepal, China, Sudan, Poland, etc.). I have 7 students that are special education and many students in my room at English Language Learners.
My students are a super active bunch, they love music, movement, sensory, art and kinetic learning activities.
They need to move throughout the day, and play is essential to their development. They are a highly active bunch.
My Project
The flexible seating will allow my students to have more options than the traditional chairs in the preschool classroom. I have students that are general education and special education that would benefit from some flexible seating options.
My special education students would be able to use the flexible seating during group time as well as allow for more movement.
All of my students will be able to use these seating options as well.
Currently, I have standard chairs and tables, no other options for movement during seated activities. Preschoolers naturally need to move around all day, so this would help them do that.
More than half of students from low‑income households
