My Students

Third grade means making new friends, learning new ideas, reading new books, solving new problems, playing new games, reaching new goals, making new mistakes, & having fun the whole way through! I have a fantastic third grade class of learners, readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, explorers and more! They are excited about learning, curious about new things, and just sweet kids all around. Our school is a wonderful community. Everyone is kind and willing to help one another in any way possible.

My Project

Flexible seating is where you provide different choices around the classroom for your students to sit. Last year we had several options, but the students asked for more! I only had enough for 5 students at a time, so my students and I brainstormed more options. My students are movers and shakers!

They like to choose where to sit in the classroom and I find that when they have a choice in where they are sitting, they do better work.

They are also more comfortable and therefore can sustain their work for longer periods of time.

Flexible seating also helps students' brains when it comes to learning. Yoga balls and stools allow students to sit up straighter; therefore, they can inhale more oxygen. When more oxygen goes to the brain, students are able to focus and learn better.
