My Project

Flexible seating allows students to have a choice in their learning environment gives them additional independence and increases ownership. They practice responsibility in choosing materials that work best for them, and in keeping those materials in good condition for the next student to use. They also can make learning more fun by changing the environment where independent work is completed. In my classroom, I would like to use flexible seating options to teach students responsibility, help some students focus on the task at hand, and as a reward for students who demonstrate excellent behavior and outstanding work.

With your help, I want to give my students opportunities to learn in different spaces to provide a change of pace and increase engagement.

My students are far more engaged and excited to learn when they are given a choice of where to sit. I currently have a small library with some optional seating, but with these items, I could greatly expand this space so more of my students can benefit from alternate seating. This is especially helpful for students who need to move around and get a little bit of energy out, and for those who may work better in a more quiet area.
