This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Flexible seating enhances student learning by giving them the chance to make choices that work best for them. During independent work times and silent reading time, students are allowed to choose a location in the classroom that works best for them. This opportunity gives my students a chance to advocate for themselves. Currently, my students have a few options for flexible seating, such as working at different tables, on pillows, or on the floor using a clipboard. However, I believe that providing students with additional options of flexible seating would allow them to take ownership over their learning experience.
My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice of flexible seating in the classroom.
The flexible seating products that I have selected will benefit my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The stackable stools will benefit students by allowing them to easily grab a stool if they would like one, and stack in conveniently at the end of class. They can also be used as an alternative chair if needed! The reading pillows and cushions can instantly turn any area into a cozy reading nook. These cushions are also lightweight and can be easily used in many areas of the classroom.
I hope you can see the many benefits that flexible seating would offer my students. I truly believe that with your help, my students will be able to advocate for where they would like to work in the classroom and become more motivated learners and readers.
