My Project
I am a dedicated 2nd and 3rd-grade teacher at The Ella Baker School in New York City, where we believe that every child deserves a learning environment that supports their unique needs. In my classroom, I have students with varied attention and sensory needs, including those with ADHD and other learning differences.
For many of my students, sitting still all day is simply not how they learn best.
Movement helps them focus, regulate their energy, and stay engaged with their learning. But right now, we don't have enough options to meet their needs.
We really need:
1) Standing desks for students who focus better when they can move.
2) Wobble stools & balance ball chairs for students who need gentle movement while working.
3) Cushioned floor seating & fidget-friendly chairs to provide comfortable, calming options for all learners.
Why This Matters:

2. Supports Self-Regulation: Students who can move while learning feel less frustrated and more in control of their energy.
