This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Many of my students are interested in the subjects we are discussing but have trouble staying focused. Others simply complain about being uncomfortable in the chairs provided by the school. Regardless of the cause of distraction-- it hinders student learning. This project is to fund flexible, more versatile seating options in my classroom.
With these items, students will be given greater autonomy to choose what works best for them.
Students with difficulty sitting still will be able to move in ways that are not distracting to the rest of the class. Students who are uncomfortable in the school-provided chairs will have other, more comfortable options allowing them to focus more effectively on academics.
No one likes being stuck somewhere where they are uncomfortable. By providing flexible seating I hope to increase students' comfortability and thus their desire to come to school. Students deserve a classroom where they are comfortable and have fun.
