My Students

My students come to school full of smiles, hugs, and an eagerness to learn every day. Classroom attendance is always high as I believe in making education engaging and fun, thus students never want to miss a day in my class. Because we all learn differently, I try to create a classroom atmosphere that is conducive to meeting all their learning styles and needs.

As academic expectations increase for kindergarten students nationwide, it is my goal to provide learning opportunities that balance their need to wiggle and move as they learn.

Not only do I desire for all my students to succeed academically, regardless of personal challenges or disabilities, but I strive to instill a love of learning that will last them a lifetime.

My Project

My students need flexible seating options that meet their individual learning needs and level of energy: six Stability balls, four Bouncy Bands, two Hokki stools, and four floor cushions will help students maximize learning while allowing for movement. Flexible Seating will be beneficial to my students in many ways. Having the ability to wiggle while they work is likely to increase student focus and class participation.

My goal is to be able to provide more flexible seating options for students to better suit their learning needs.

When students are comfortable in their learning environment, and find a seating arrangement that works best for them, they will be engaged successful learners.

I have several students that naturally prefer to stand or kneel to do their classwork, and others that need safe alternatives to wiggle while they learn which will not interfere with peer learning. By providing a variety of seating options, students will find what works best for them. My students currently use various floor pillows during quiet reading times with great success. I have no doubt my class will embrace flexible seating on a full time basis.
