Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach TK to 2nd grade students with autism on core curriculum. This school year I have five kindergarten students and nine first graders. I have all boys in my classroom. My students benefit from visual prompts and a structured routine. They are loving kids with great personalities.

My students are always happy and eager to learn.

They enjoy reading, listening to stories, participating in story discussions, and singing during our morning routine. Although sometimes these students face difficult challenges they do not give up and I have a great team of assistants supporting me in the classroom to help meet the academic needs of my students.

My Project

My students need constant sensory input, and a way to release their energy and wiggles out. If my students don't have that they will be constantly distracted, and get up from their chairs to wander around the classroom and release their energy and wiggles that way. Flexible seating in my classroom will provide my students with the sensory input they need. They will be able to release their energy while seating.

The Kore Wobble Chairs and Gaiam Balance Ball Chairs will allow the students to wobble and bounce releasing their energy and at the same time allowing them to focus and complete their work.

The SoftZone Floor Cushions will be useful for the class library and story time, where each student can grab a cushion to sit on the floor and look at a book or listen to a story being read.
