Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

There are many reasons to make the switch to flexible seating, but I want to share my 2 biggest reasons.

First, flexible seating allows greater student control and less teacher control.

Students have the option to choose the best seat for them to stay focused throughout the day. Second, flexible seating is part of a commitment to learning. I want my teacher space to be smaller; I want to spend my time in the room working with students. The room needs to be “ours” instead of “mine” to give my students a sense of ownership and enable them to become invested in their own education.

With flexible seating, there is a change in student commitment to learning and behavior. Being comfortable somehow allows the student to stay vested in the task, and their behavior is equally positive. They are willing to work with others, share ideas and move around the room.
