My Students

My students are kind and helpful and come to school each day eager to learn. I recently moved to a new school and began teaching a new grade. My students make me excited to come to work everyday and eager to see what new things they will learn. They are very self-motivated and have a vested interest in their own learning. Even when learning becomes challenging, they continue to work hard and not give up. I want to give them the resources they need to make learning even more fun and exciting!

My Project

I've had flexible seating in my classroom for the last few years and have noticed a huge impact on student learning and engagement. Students do better in school when they can choose what learning option works best for them. Not all students do well sitting in a regular chair all day and need other choices to be successful. My seating, however, has been things that have been handed down to me or were purchased to keep cost down. Unfortunately, this means that the seating I have has seen better days. Stools are breaking, bean bags, flat, and we don't have enough of the alternate options to accommodate all the students that would like to use them.

Sturdier stools, cushions, and bean bag chairs will help my students have plenty of seating options that will be durable and safe to use.
