Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These young minds are the future leaders, doctors, teachers, and entrepreneurs of America. I teach some of the brightest, most amazing kids you will ever meet! They come from all walks of life and all levels of academic achievement. Our school is a small rural school that works hard to provide the best education for our students; we are more than a community, we are a family!

No matter their level of ability, my students do not know limitations; they are always reaching for the next level.

They are high energy, and eager to learn in all areas! I cannot say enough about my students! They are simply AMAZING people! I could not be more proud to be called a teacher than I am when my students call me theirs!

My Project

I am a first year teacher excited to bring a new view on learning to my classroom and my students! Flexible seating is a research-based learning strategy that focuses on creating an engaging learning environment in order to enhance student learning and increase academic success.

Flexible seating is about keeping the focus of the classroom environment on what is really important: the students!

By giving the students a voice in their classroom on how they learn and where they learn, I will be able to teach the students beyond just the curriculum; my students will be given the opportunity to take control of their learning and own responsibility in their education. Flexible seating is about keeping the classroom student-centered and allowing the students to create an environment that they can own and be proud of.

I started my journey to become a teacher because I wanted to change the way we teach and the way students learn! I was the student that could not sit still, leaned in my chair, stood at my desk; my teachers said my name more than any other student. I know first hand what kind of a difference having this project come to fruition would mean to my students. Wobble chairs, balance balls, floor seating, bouncy bands and standing desks are all a great way to differentiate the classroom by allowing students to become active in their learning through movement! Thank you for considering my project and for bringing awareness to a fun way to embrace the diversity of the 21st-Century Classroom!
