Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Flexible seating in a self-contained classroom is essential to support the diverse needs of students with learning disabilities. Many students with learning challenges, such as ADHD, dyslexia, or autism, often struggle to stay engaged or focused in a traditional classroom setting. By offering a variety of seating options, students have the opportunity to find a position that helps them concentrate and feel comfortable. This autonomy over their learning environment can significantly reduce anxiety, improve attention span, and enhance their overall ability to process and retain information.

Moreover, flexible seating fosters a dynamic learning environment that encourages collaboration and movement, which can positively influence students' reading and study habits.

For example, students who struggle with traditional desk arrangements can use alternative seating to break up the monotony of sitting still for extended periods, making them more likely to engage in reading tasks and study more effectively. By offering seating choices, students are better able to self-regulate their focus and energy, leading to improved concentration during reading activities and assignments. This not only supports their academic growth but also helps them develop skills to independently manage their learning styles, ultimately building stronger reading and study habits.
