Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are go getters. Many of them have been handed the short stick in life and yet they persevere. They're funny and enjoy a good laugh, but also want to learn and grow. Each year I get a new interesting batch of kids who surprise me and inspire me. My students are stars and they just need the right medication to help them shine. I hope I inspire them and create a good environment for them to feel safe, smart, and important.

My Project

My students are a diverse group, many with IEPs, who would truly benefit from flexible seating. Every year I have taught, I have had a handful of students who work better in a flexible, freeing environment, in which they can utilize the classroom space as needed. Many Professional Developments encourage the flexible seating method, and in the past, I have seen students flourish when I give them free reign of the classroom space. They finish their work and enjoy the small liberties granted. I would love to incorporate flexible seating chairs in my classroom this year and really practice the strategy.
