My Project
I am requesting new desks for my classroom. My classroom is currently very crowded with furniture, making it difficult for students to navigate from space to space.
We do a lot of small group work so students need the ability to travel from center to center.
I am requesting these rolling desks because it will reduce the need for multiple tables and furniture in my classroom.
Flexible seating can improve access to clear sightlines for visual communication, such as signing, AAC devices, lipreading, etc. It also allows for collaborative group setups that facilitate peer interaction, a crucial part of language and social development.
For students with sensory or attention challenges, these desks will help them regulate their energy because they will have to option to move away when they are overstimulated, and back when they are feeling better. This will also help them to maintain focus during lessons as well as provide them with close proximity to the teacher.
