My Project

My students are outstanding scholars and are always asking for alternative seating options. Many of the students have specific needs (students with IEPs) and diverse learning styles, where being able to move around helps them concentrate better. They enjoy the freedom of movement and like to sit on the floor or stand up while working. These materials will allow them access to diverse seating options and hopefully support their needs in all classroom learning areas.

I plan to use the materials to set up a flexible seating classroom where the students can choose where they would like to sit each day.

This supports their ability to have a choice and hopefully take ownership of the school and their learning. The bar seating will allow students to sit or stand while working, whereas the cushions and laptop trays will enable them to sit on the floor and stretch their legs. I have a combination class where several students have IEPs and specific learning needs, and the ability to choose and move freely helps with their engagement in their learning.
