Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a fabulous elementary school. Recently, we have been designated as a Gold STEAM school. I would like to continue our STEAM adventure for this new school year with my fourth graders. Math and science will be infused to show they go hand-in-hand with reading and writing. I want to introduce them to programs like Discovery Learning to supplement their science text. We have an incredible robotics program in the school and enrichment programs that encourage students in these subject areas. I'm excited to show students how these subjects are interdisciplinary.

My Project

Have you ever taken work home because it is better to finish that presentation laying on the couch or on your comfy chair? Students feel the same way! I want to be able to provide my special needs students with the flexible seating they deserve. Years ago students were forced to sit in rows, one behind the other. Time has changed! We celebrate collaboration and academic conversation. I want to be able to provide my students with the accommodation of a flexible seating area that will help them concentrate and be engaged with their STEAM lessons. They can choose to sit on the couch or on the STEAM rug as they research their STEAM challenge.
