The 2024-25 school year will be my second year teaching first grade. One of my biggest takeaways from my first year teaching is that first graders are wiggly! They LOVE to move, and the more they move, the more focused on their work they tend to be.
Help me provide my students with flexible seating options to help them get their wiggles out and perform their best.
I have already taken the leap to include more flexible seating options in my classroom in the 2024-25 school year. With this project, I hope to provide my students with additional options to explore to see what helps them focus on their work. These seats will help build movement in the classroom without disrupting and taking time from learning.
Studies have shown that student choice has been linked to increases in student performance and effort. I will use these supplies to empower students to make choices that have positive impacts on their academics by allowing them to choose where they are sitting and what seats they are using.
