My Project

Help me give my students more options for writing time. Could you imagine sitting in the same seat all day long? Kids need to move and explore during the day. These new seating options give kids choices and flexibility to move around the room and work with different people.

If we had portable lap desks, the kids can have options to do their work in an unconventional way.

These desks naturally mimic the way kids sit on the floor but give them the structure to continue doing their work with the desk attached. I can see the kids now writing and collaborating together while using these lap desks. Some children need more movement and flexibility in their day to help them stay on task and focused. Simple tools like these can help them get up and move yet keep on the task at hand.

Writing is not one of the most favorable activities for children. With these new lap desks, they will be excited to begin their writing and work. Since writing is done in almost every subject area, it will be used quite often during the day. And for kids who prefer to sit at a table, the stools still allow them to move around and sit with partners to work without carrying their heavy desk chairs.

We foster collaboration and collective thinking, and these tools in my classroom will do just that. Please consider funding this project to help my second graders. Let's make learning flexible and fun for everyone!
