This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I teach kindergarten in a low socioeconomic community, and therefore funding is often short for things that are beyond the typical needs of a classroom. For instance, I have chairs, but only chairs. These stools will provide an opportunity to support students that require different sensory input. The floor seats also allow the students flexibility of choice as well. With these options for students will be able to decide what materials to use to support their focus. This is also true to the bands; this gives students an output/input that does not require too much attention of needs.
My students are so unique, and their needs vastly vary.
Many students are multi-cultural and bi-lingual, and this is their first exposure to school. I like to make it the most positive experience I can for them, so they can become lifelong learners. With these flexible seating options, I can truly give the students a simple tool, that will support their learning. The chair pockets will keep books and pencils close at hand. The storage will help organize resources so students can get the things they need.
