My Project

As a SPED, in a low-income/high-poverty school, I teach students who have a wide range of academic and English language abilities as well as challenges. Throughout the day, my students move around my room to work with each other in small groups, independently at their desks, or to another space in the room for station work. The students really enjoy this model and are motivated to work hard!

Ultimately, I would like to create a "calm space" in my classroom where my students can feel safe and relaxed and calm or cool down if or when they feel overwhelmed.

The flexible seats that I am requesting would be perfect for our "calm area" and can also be used for our small group teaching corner. These five flex seats would accommodate students of all sizes. This style of seating would help those students with attention difficulties to remain seated and focused on teacher-led lessons and independent work.

The ability to offer flexible and varied seating options would help maximize learning for all of my students in this setting.
