My Students

My students are kind, energetic, and curious children who truly love learning and want to learn everything they can. They enjoy hands on activities, engaging activities and activities that allow them to move around and discover their own learning. They love to explore. My students come to school each day truly wanting to work with their teachers and their peers to learn as much as they can.

As sweet and driven as my students are, because of their diverse needs; social emotional and academic, they get stressed and overwhelmed quite quickly.

Our school is very diverse with 15% special needs and 24% English language learners. As much as our instruction is differentiated to meet their needs; our classrooms should address the needs of our students as well.

Each child in my classroom loves and wants to learn. Even though sometimes the work becomes difficult and overwhelming my students persevere, push through, put their best foot forward, and try their best. They are an incredible group of children. As an educator I want to try my best to make the classroom environment a calming and comforting place to meet their needs and enhance their level of

My Project

I am requesting materials that will allow for more flexible seating and create a calm environment in my classroom. The wobble chairs and cushions will allow students the ability to move around while still learning. The giant comfy pillow will help create a calm area when students are independently reading or need a break in a safe space when feeling overwhelmed.

This project will make a difference because it will provide many different sensory options for students with special needs.

Many of my students have a hard time sitting still for more than 15 minutes at a time, the wobble chairs and cushions will provide them with the ability to move around and still be engaged in the lesson. The giant comfy pillow will help create a calm corner for students to independently reading or decompress.
