My Project

My name is Nathan Ferguson, and I am a first year Algebra teacher. To help make my students feel welcome in their learning environment, I will create a safe space where students gather to practice math using flashcards, relax with an inspiring or informative book (such as Dr. Seuss, “Harry Potter”, and “Everything & Everywhere”), or have small tutoring sessions involving personal white boards and markers. Currently, my classroom is exclusively tiles, chairs, and tables, and I believe that creating this space with flexible seating (such as the pillows and the big joe chair) and a beautiful bookshelf to store everything will make my classroom warm, dynamic, and inviting. This flex space centered around the circle rug will ultimately act as a safe and supportive area for all students to relieve stress and anxiety and allow for more focused learning to take place.
