My Students

My students are super special because as soon as you meet them, you instantly fall in love with them! Their hunger to learn and power to succeed is something that is remarkable to see. When given sufficient tools, the sky is the limit! My class is made up of twelve special needs learners and motivating them to learn is a huge part of my day. These new materials will spark their interests and foster confidence at the same time.

My Project

These materials will allow me to put a fun ‘spin’ on independent reading. Every Friday my students will be able to participate in ‘Flashlight Friday’. During this activity each student will choose an independent reading book and receive a flashlight. Lights are then turned off in the room and flashlights are turned on! Being able to use the cool & fun flashlights during independent reading time will instantly motivate my students. It will be an exciting activity that my students can look forward to each Friday. The VIP bean bag chair will be for that special student who has proven to me and their classmates that they are a great peer model and they will be rewarded with the honor of being able to sit on the VIP bean bag chair during independent reading.
