Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Foster technology based learning for low socio-economic school students! I teach 6th grade Math/Science at a title 1 school with high need and at risk students. The kids in my classroom become a family and I would really appreciate some help providing for them.

My students go to the computer lab once a week and LOVE using computers to do assignments. I've been teaching them to do projects involving word, excel, garageband, imovie, podcasting etc. Unfortunately, the projects they save on the computers they use are often deleted by other students who come in to use the lab either after school or who come in during a different period. They are so disappointed when something the worked hard to create is suddenly gone!

My kids don't get a whole lot of opportunities to work with technology. I would love to foster their interest in learning how to use the latest programs and encourage them to create projects and assignments that they are truly proud of and enjoy working on. My students desperately need their own personal USB flashdrives so they can save and continue ongoing projects on school and home computers. Many of the projects we do, are not printable documents i.e. podcasts/video etc. It would be great for the students to save their own projects, work on them on home computers if possible, show their projects to parents etc. I think it would encourage them to embrace technology and help them enjoy doing class assignments and homework!

Your help will ensure that disadvantaged students will have the opportunity to use the technology offered by our school and learn how to use the computer programs available proficiently to prepare them for adulthood and the real world!
