How often does a teacher say, "It is time for your first major assignment," and receive applause as a response?!?!
Vivacious, hilarious, hardworking, genuine and fun--not to mention appreciative--These are my students!
I have the fortune of teaching two advanced middle school art classes to 8th graders. We are a primarily low income, public school. We are awesome.
These students were selected to be in the advanced art class for many reasons. These include, drive, talent, interest in subject, ability to take direction and critique to improve their work. They are optimistic and push their creativity.
My Project
I want to offer my amazing students the opportunity to celebrate their hard work---with more awesome art creating! I want my two classes to come together and create their own paintings by following Bob Ross. They will learn about a well known artist, practice working quickly, and discover painting with gesso. Vocab terms would include alla prima, wet on wet, value, foreground, middle ground, background, light source, and more.
Did I mention we are working on costumes?!
I couldn't find an approved vendor on this site for that..but stay tuned! My students would love the opportunity to work on a real canvas, with actual gesso and paint; in a fun and meaningful way. I want them to know; "its their world," and have fun working together.
