My Students

My students attend a Regents-bound Algebra class in a large and culturally diverse high school. They have a variety of different learning disabilities. One of the major challenges they face is developing effective study skills.

Because of the variety of disabilities and interests, some students struggle with executive functioning.

However, with the right materials I can implement activities with explicit and practical applications for research-based approaches.

My Project

Your donation will empower me to establish organized stations where students to access resources for creating flash card study guides, foldable graphic organizers, “feeling stuck files,” and cell station.

These resources will support students with disabilities by addressing several of their key struggles.

In the Flash Card Corner, students will have have an array of colored pencils and index cards to choose from. The colored index cards will provide an additional visual aid. The drawer underneath the organizer will be the students’ one-stop-shop for the ancillary supplies: hole punches and binder rings.

For Foldable Fun the students will be able to get card stock prints with the extra ink.

“Feeling Stuck Files” are topic-based one-pagers I create where students can reference examples, step-by-step instructions, key vocabulary, and QR codes to videos and additional examples - the hanging folders will help keep the materials organized so students can find them easily.
