My Students
My students come in eager and excited to learn everyday. They are excited to see what story I will read them each day. Even though many of my students eat breakfast at school they are more worried about when we are getting our snack then what they are learning about.
We are kind of stuck in a rut in our centers and this would definitely excite my students to have a fun way to retell and build on what they are learning.
My class is from 9 different ethnic groups. Right now I don't have the materials and copies just wear out. Kids need to have experiences with materials that I can use from year to year. We use a lot of paper and pencil to demonstrate their knowledge. Having all these great flannel sets would allow us to be more successful first graders and life-long learners and continue to build our English language. At our school, we are working together to achieve more. My students will continue to benefit from activities where we can be working together to achieve.
My Project
All these materials will be able to put into use immediately since they are ready to be used and I will also have multiple boards and places around my room that students can work.
There is such a variety of book retelling, counting, building number sense, ABC's: there is also so many different ways to use these flannel activities.
I will be able to use them at centers, small groups, intervention and even inside recess. I also feel like once they know the stories and are able to expand their vocabularies by retelling stories with partners over time we will just keep building more teamwork and vocabulary.
