Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

All of our students are immigrants. Our school has students from over 25 countries and they speak over 30 languages. What ties all of the diversity together is the reason that families chose to move to America - to fulfill their dreams and give a better life to their children. Our students are ambitious, and they know they have to work double time to get ready for whatever is coming next. They have to learn English at the same time that they are learning math, science, and history that is new to them.
Teachers and support staff at our school go above and beyond to make sure every student has what they need.
For some students it's extra snacks, for some it's a chance to play on the soccer or volleyball team, for some it's an extra sweater, and for some, it's having an adult who knows you and can give you good advice. Our school cares about each individual student and every student here can find an adult who cares about them.
My Project
Our students come from all over the world and they love to see themselves and their countries reflected in our hallways and auditorium. Our Service Club is called PESO Leaders for our school motto of Perserverance, Expression, Service and Ownership. Our PESO Leaders want to make sure every new student feels welcome when they arrive at BINcA and that every student graduates with pride in their new country and their home country.
Please help us make sure every student has a flag from their country decorating our school!
Last year, we found some flags for students to pose with for pictures at graduation but this year we want to make sure everyone is included and that families feel welcome. We plan to use the flags for every schoolwide event including Back to School night, our Bridging Borders Cultural event, Diversity and Democracy Day and graduation. Our PESO Leaders are committed to keeping the flags on display.
