Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are attending a brand new K-9 charter school this year. My students live in a struggling socioeconomic climate in which their families work multiple jobs to provide. My students are enrolling in our school with hopes of academic improvement and increased opportunities to expand their experience of the world. My students are also ecstatic for their upcoming sports seasons. These student-athletes are so excited that they are participating in virtual practices in order to prepare for their Spring seasons.

I teach at a Title I School in East Las Vegas in which a high percentage of my students come from bilingual homes and all students receive free lunch.

My students have already faced challenges more difficult than most adults have to endure. My students are resilient and hard-working. My students believe that they have something to offer the world and our school's mission is to take that tenacious energy to change the way our community feels about itself. Our students are ready and we can't wait to show you what they will do.

My Project

My student-athletes are in need of flag belts to prepare to play in their upcoming football season. We are thrilled to be offering competitive football to students who have never played before. We are starting with the fundamentals and we need these flag belts to begin that journey with these young student-athletes. These flag belts will be used daily during practices and scrimmages as the student-athletes prepare to represent our school on the field.

These flag belts will improve my student-athletes' ability to play, better prepare them for their games, and lead to better performances in competition.

We strive to give our students the best chance for success. We want them to succeed with their football goals and more adequately preparing them to play is a crucial part of that process. These flag belts will benefit over 100 students spread across our football program. I am confident that our game performance will improve dramatically if we can have this new equipment to play with. This is the project that will make that happen.
