My Students

We are the Chemists of Payneville. We will not help build the School to Prison Pipeline but we are groundbreaking in building the Chemistry to College pipeline.

My school is categorized as the lower performing schools in the county and in need of extra support and assistance for our students, who all experience high levels of poverty, violence and educational inequity.The majority of my students will either be the first or in the first generation of their families to attend college.

Statistically, only 27% of them will graduate college within four years (compared to 42% of students whose parents graduated from college). But not the Payneville Chemists, we all aspire to go to college.

My Project

My students have had little exposure to experimentation and labs. I want to show them, hands on, the amazing world of chemistry. I want my kids to be active participants in their education by giving them all the tools they need to succeed. I work for an amazing school where the students, faculty, and staff have pride in all our endeavors.

I want to be able to provide my students with every opportunity to explore science, through hands on activities and experiments.

Our school lost most of our glassware from a pipe bursting in our stockroom. I am asking for two Chemistry Topic Bundles dealing with Chemical Reactions, one Carolina Chemistry Topic Bundle dealing with Gas Laws, a Carolina Chemonstrations Carbon Snake Kit, a Wireless All-In-One Printer, and extra toner. These donations will help my students stay focused on experiments, as they will have notes to read, glassware to use, a printer to print their papers and technology to help push them forward intellectually. The donations will help improve my classroom by helping what can sometimes be a very transient environment feel like home.

They will leave my classroom inspired and with skills to help them to be successful in whatever post secondary path they choose.
