Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember when you were in school and all of sudden you noticed you had your pen or pencil twirling in your hand , tapping on the table, or in your mouth? Children with autism cannot control that urge and require acceptable material to soothe those sensory needs.

My students range from the ages of 5- 8 years old.

They have moderate to severe disabilities such as autism. They attend a public school in high poverty greater the Los Angeles area. Due to budget cuts, the district no longer provides materials for students with sensory needs.

My Project

My students will benefit from these materials such as a vibrating chewy because they will have socially acceptable materials to chew on. Currently they put other things such as paper, crayons, and books in their mouths and are in danger of choking. With a vibrating toy, they can relieve their sensory need and be safe while doing so.
