Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As part of the school year, I conduct the Fitness Gram assessment. The assessment consists of several areas including, height and weight. The Health-O-Meter scale is essential to get this done. This particular scale works well because it includes the stadiometer for taking the students' height. This scale is also digital and facilitates the process of having the students weighed and measured.

As physical education teachers we conduct the FitnessGram assessment as accurately as possible but having the right tools makes a huge difference.

Another area in the assessment is performing the sit and reach test. This test requires a flexibility box. At the moment, I implement the use of a milk crate with a yardstick for measurement. This provides inaccurate data and is not as safe as students can get hurt with the yardstick. Acquiring the flexibility box and the scale will facilitate conducting the FitnessGram for years to come and help the students perform with accuracy.

Mr. Paulino will only receive his materials if this project is fully funded by July 9.
